It began with a love for handbags and grew with a desire to be unique. Music inspires me consistently; therefore I let it be my muse.

It took some time, but I do know who I am. I have been called quirky and creative and because I’m not afraid to flaunt those things - confident. I suppose to begin a tiny business you need to be all of those things. I’ve never been one for cookie cutter.
Lyric & Aster was born out of a passion for creating things that have personality (PURSE-onality?) whilst being as sustainable as possible. I’ve always found expression through music and I wanted to extend that to what I wear and ultimately, what I make. Music transcends boundaries with each new sound being born out of the previous generation - so why not take something old, merge it with something new and give it a whole new life?
I get my love of handbags from my maternal grandmother (and my mum. And, (as I learned) my enjoyment for leather working from my paternal grandmother. I stumbled across combining the two purely by accident, however at the encouragement (and rave reviews of others) I decided to give it a go and make it a “thing”. It took me a few years to pluck up the courage (putting yourself on the internet is kind of scary!), I’m still teaching myself new tricks (both on the leather and in the world of tiny business owning) but I’m ecstatic to be here and to share my work with you. Everything in my store is artistically up-cycled. Each item is crafted of pre-loved, dead stock or salvage. all items have lived a life before and may have small blemishes or scuffs, spots, mild unevenness rust or a touch of verdigris. These are not considered flaws due to a) the nature of each item and b) I myself am human, not a machine. Everything is punched, stitched and sewn by hand; therefore making each piece unique.
