Nirvana Collection: The Kurt Cobain Guitar Slinger Strap
A man that needs little to no introduction despite his desire to remain anonymous, Kurt Cobain was one of the founding members, lead singer and songwriter for the grunge band, Nirvana. inspired by the punk sound, Cobain joined forces with bassist Krist Novoselic to form the early alternative rock sound embraced by generation X. Ironically the band’s name comes from a Buddhist idea where one experiences freedom from pain, suffering and an external world. The band’s massive success never truly fit in with Cobain’s desire to keep it underground.
However, his successes did lend a voice to pro-choice, LGBTQ and sexism - which is why this collection ies named after his band - and this strap after him
The Kurt Cobain strap is a floral tooled leather belt with scrap leopard hair on hide ends (evoking the leopard jacket Cobain wore in one of his last photo shoots and matte nickel hardware finishings. It measures approximately 56” making this a true hip length crossbody strap. It has been painted and sealed with Angelus products.
The Nirvana collection was created to be able to provide small donations to organizations I believe are doing good throughout the community. Inspired by the response to my Pirate Radio Crowns & Cards, i wanted to see if I could do more with my business. 20% of the purchase of this item will be donated to one of the following organizations: Planned Parenthood, The Minnesota Freedom Fund, The Trevor Project, The LGBTQ Coalition or EveryTown for gun safety.
Please note all items in the Lyric & Aster store are handmade. They are crafted of pre-loved, dead stock or salvage. Meaning they have lived a life before and may have small blemishes or scuffs, spots, mild unevenness rust or a touch of verdigris. These are not considered flaws due to a) the nature of each item and b) I myself am human, not a machine – all items are upcycled – punched, stitched, sewn by hand.
Please take time to view the photos posted for any and all items as they are a large part of the description. Should you have further inquiries, please do not hesitate to reach out.
